Reflection on MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS

And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up unto a mountain to pray. (Lk.9:28) Throughout the Bible, mountain is seen clearly as a place of contact between God and man. The height of mountains and the air of mystery, which enshrouds it, makes it a place where heaven and earth meet. Here is a point of prayer and divine encounter.
When Elijah desired to meet with God; he was burning with jealous love for Yahweh, but a voice told him: “Go up and stand on the mount, waiting for Yahweh” (1 Kg. 19:10-11). For such great encounter with a great God, he had to separate himself to great places, the mountain. In His prayer life, Jesus became a mountain climber. Often, He would send the people off and goes to hillside to pray. (Mk, 6:46).To reveal Himself in prayer, Jesus took the three apostles up the high mountain. In this mountain of prayer, He was transfigured. Subsumed in intimate conversation with the Father, on a high mountain, the appearance of Jesus started undergoing transformation.Mountain climbers have great chances of undergoing spiritual transformations.
