An explosion at a medical clinic in Iran's capital, Tehran, kills at least 19 people, which state-run media says was caused by a gas leak.
At least 19 people were killed in Iran after a powerful explosion at a clinic in northern Tehran.
The explosion happened just before 9pm local time. Significant damage was caused to buildings in the district, and a cloud of thick black smoke was sent into the atmosphere.
Local media reported the explosion occurred as gas canisters caught fire in the clinic's underground cellar.
A fire service spokesman said that 19 people died in the incident.
Firefighters managed to rescue 20 people from the medical centre.
