Jerusalem Attack: Teenage boy killed and dozen injured in two separate explosions in Jerusalem

A teenage boy was killed and at least a dozen people injured in two separate explosions in Jerusalem early Wednesday.

According to Israel radio, the blasts happened at two busy areas on the outskirts of the city during the morning rush hour.

The first explosion went off at a bus stop near the entrance of the city just after 07.00 and the second about half an hour later at a bus station in Ramot.

A teenager who died in the atrocity was later identified as an Israeli-Canadian religious student.

Though no group has so far said it was behind the blasts, the Palestinian militant groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad both praised the perpetrators.

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid held a security assessment meeting with senior security officials, whilst state TV reported that police suspected the devices were activated via mobile phones.

The attacks came as Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to form a new coalition government after his Likud party's far-right allies won the parliamentary election.
