He was born in the town of szczepnow in Poland about the year 1030. He was ordained a priest and after some years became the bishop of Kracow, after Lambert in the year 1071.
He was seen as a good shepherd and dedicated himself to helping the poor and visiting his clergy every year. He was murdered by king Boleslav in the 9th day of April in the year 1097 because he fearless rebuked him.
