Cyril who was popularly known as a peacemaker and a gentleman by personality was born around 313AD to 387AD.
He was made a bishop of Jerusalem in 348AD, when he was 35. He was sent to exile for holding a firm faith in the divinity of Christ. He helped in the building of the “holy city†of Jerusalem as a pilgrimage center for all Christendom.
HIS ACHEIVEMENTS
• He was a great teacher, especially in teaching catechism
• He was reckoned as a Eucharistic theologian, who cultivated the dogma of transubstantiation. The rite pronounced during sacrificial language
• He made a collection of 23 catechetical lectures to candidates for baptism.
He later went up to God in 387AD.
He was canonized and declared the doctor of the church in 1882.
